Maciej Lewenstein: The new thing is that Ido uses
quite creatively his voice, as exemplified on "I'm On The Summer Canal". "Comes A Magpie" is a beautiful example of the use of the bowed banjo, continues on "With A Crown Of Thorns". On "If You Leave At Night" Ido returns to the Bailey/Russel aesthetics on guitar, whereas on "The Pasture" and "Comes A Stalk" the bowed banjo is back. Banjo tracks are truly exceptional, with amazing expression mixed with a kind of lyricism. But, the guitar tracks like the bluesy "Rough Road" can also carry a great emotional load. The closing "Invocation" for the bowed banjo is a true free improvised tears-squeezer.
